This month’s partner spotlight is on Anthem HealthKeepers Plus. Kent Berryman presented during the January Bristol Coalition meeting. In his presentation he covered the current open Medicaid open enrollment period and announced the Anthem Foundation’s Substance Use Disorder grant opportunity.
Medicaid Open Enrollment
Medicaid open enrollment occurs yearly, this year running from December 19, 2023 through February 28, 2024. Anthem is one of Virginia’s largest Medicaid health plans with over 550,000 members. According to Berryman, 1.2 million VA Medicaid recipients have renewed their coverage. Virginia has a 17% disenrollment rate, ranking 3rd lowest in the Nation.

Substance Use Disorder Grant Funding
The Anthem Foundation announced its third round of funding towards the Substance Use Disorder grant. The grant officially opened January 1, with applications due January 31, 2024. Funding will be awarded to grant applicants focused on advancing health equity with a primary goal of improving the percentage of people receiving alcohol and/or substance dependence treatment.
