BRHA hosted an event at the Bristol Train Station in January to kickoff its Choice Neighborhoods Plannng Grant activities. Approximately one-hundred community partners and residents of the targeted neighborhood attended the meeting to learn about the program that focuses on housing, people, and neighborhoods. It is intended to transform a targeted neighborhood that includes distressed public housing. In our case, the targeted neighborhood encompasses all of BRHA’s public housing properties as well as the campus of the former Virginia Intermont College.
Those in attendance learned about the path forward which includes breaking into teams to begin formulating a plan. Everyone had the opportunity to sign up for a team and to vote for an early action activity. BRHA looks forward to continued communication as we begin the work to develop a transformation plan for the neighborhood. Thank you to all who attended and to all who will help us with the team work required.
