Susan Dewey has been at the helm of Virginia Housing (VH) since 1999, and during that time she has transformed VH into one of the best state housing finance agencies in the country. The affordable housing industry in the Commonwealth has flourished during her time as chief executive officer of VH as she has valued partnerships, made grant funds available with an emphasis on capabity building, encouraged innovation, been able to pivot during difficult times, built and supported a fantastic staff, and been fearless in her approach.
BRHA is grateful to have had Susan’s support of rural Virginia and traditionally underserved areas of the state. During her tenure, we were fortunate to receive two allocations of low income housing tax credits (LIHTC) that enabled us to develop Sapling Grove and the Village at Oakview. We are currently looking forward to building new units with recently state allocated Housing Opportunity Tax Credits (HOTC).
We will miss you, Susan! But we do wish you the best retirement ever as we look forward to seeing where you might re-emerge as “once a houser, always a houser!” We have been fortunate to have you at VH for these many years.
