National Homeownership Month celebrates the value that owning a home brings to families, communities, and neighborhoods across America. BRHA offers two programs that can help grow the dream of homeownership. Read about Resident Opportunity for Self-Sufficiency (ROSS), Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) and how Virginia Housing is making access to home loans and grants easier.
Resident Opportunity for Self-Sufficiency (ROSS ) & Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS)
The ROSS program works to promote the development of local strategies to coordinate the use of assistance under the Public Housing program with public and private resources, for supportive services and resident empowerment activities.
- Enable participating families to increase earned income
- Reduce or eliminate the need for welfare assistance
- Make progress toward achieving economic independence and housing self-sufficiency
FSS is used to coordinate public and private resources that help program participants obtain employment that will enable participating families to achieve economic independence.
If you have questions about either program, please call the EnVision Center at (276) 821-3080.
