Housing Forward Virginia’s Housing X Conference was held in May in Newport News, VA. If you are a houser, and you’ve never attended, you should put it on your calendar for next time! This conference is a real treat for self-professed housing nerds as it provides an environment for exploring innovative concepts, for thinking outside the box, and for recharging among your like-minded colleagues. This year, attendees got to hear from Theo Henderson who represents “We the Unhoused”, representatives from Symbium who talked about the future of planning, and keynote speaker Anna Mackay who spoke about the innovation in housing on the West Coast. There was also an “Experience Lab” for exploring new concepts in housing production as well as the 20 x 20 presentations where new ideas were presented with 20 slides in 20 minutes.
