During the Public Health Emergency (PHE) due to COVID, the state of Virginia has not dropped anyone from Medicaid. When the state is no longer under the PHE, the Department of Social Services will begin their normal monthly practice of renewing Medicaid recipients. The state is estimating that up to 400,000 people may lose coverage over the next year. Although Medicaid recipients cannot renew their coverage yet, they can begin updating their address and contact information NOW. The easiest way to make sure your address is correct is by calling the customer service number on the back of your Medicaid health insurance card and confirming your address.
