BRHA is proud to announce another FSS Success Story!
On December 10, 2019, the Chafin family graduated from the BRHA Family Self-Sufficiency Program and closed on their new home. This family has worked hard and achieved the goals they set for themselves – Home-OWNERSHIP! Their hard work was rewarded when they received their escrow check. This amount accumulated through 4.5 years of participation in the FSS program!
One of the biggest benefits of the FSS program is the escrow account that grows and can help a family to achieve their goal of homeownership. When a resident enrolls in the FSS program their rent is noted. As with any resident, rent will increase when there is an increase in employment. The difference in rent goes in the escrow account every month when the FSS participant pays rent. This amount accumulates very quickly and can be used by the participant when they graduate for whatever they choose. Most families do want to buy a home for their family.
The FSS program is open to any resident of public housing at BRHA. The Resident Services staff is anxious to help anyone get their goals in order and begin their journey.
