Fire Prevention Week 2019, celebrated during the week of October 6 – 12, 2019, was recognized at BRHA’s Fall Fest event. In partnership with the City of Bristol, Virginia Fire Department and HAI Group’s annual Fire Safety Poster Contest, area youth participated in this year’s campaign, “Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and practice your escape!” The campaign educates residents about the importance of planning and practicing your exit strategy in case of a fire.
HAI Group, the premier housing authority insurance provider, encourages young residents to talk with their families about creating an escape plan in the event of a fire. They should learn two ways out of every room and make sure all doors and windows that lead outside open easily and are free of clutter.
