More than $43 million has been awarded to Redevelopment and Housing Authorities across Virginia, including agencies in Southwest Virginia.
HUD’s Capital Fund provides money to public housing agencies for the development, financing and modernization of developments.
The Bristol Redevelopment & Housing Authority has been awarded $839,375. We are currently planning upgrades to the large, family units at Mosby Homes, which were constructed in the 1960s. The upgrades will be partially funded by last year’s capital allocation, but will also require the new award.
We also plan to replace baseboard heating with HVAC systems, make electrical and lighting upgrades, redo the floors, replace windows and doors and make improvements to the exterior siding by refinishing or replacing.
