BRHA Executive Director, Lisa Porter, participated alongside other housing executives from all across the nation in this year’s National Association of Housing and Community Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) Washington Conference April 22 – 24, 2018 in Arlington, Virginia. NAHRO members met in numerous panels and committee sessions (whose influence and decisions greatly affect housing industry policy) over the three-day event. Housing Secretary Dr. Ben Carson was the event’s keynote speaker.
Lisa, along with other industry executives, spent the last day of the conference “On The Hill”, a much-anticipated annual trek to Washington, D.C. to advocate for critical housing and community development programs and to be the “voice” for the families most in need of safe, affordable housing. Below are snapshots of the Virginia Association of Housing and Community Development Officials (VAHCDO) and the Virginia Housing Alliance (VHA) meeting with staff and preparing for meetings with congressional representatives:
