BRHA has installed Little Free Libraries in a number of locations throughout our family public housing complexes. A Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange. Anyone may contribute or take books. The more the merrier! If you take a book (or two) from a Library, you do not need to return that exact book. However, in order to keep the Little Library full of good choices for the whole neighborhood, the next time you swing by the Library bring a few books to share. Little Library book exchanges function on the honor system; everyone contributes to ensure there are always quality books inside. This way, we all win!
“Reading proficiency by third grade is the most important predictor of high school graduation and career success.” (from The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading)
We encourage all of our BRHA families to use the Little Free Libraries. Parents – get books that you can read to your young children! It’s a great way to spend time with your child and to encourage them to learn to read and to love books. Kids – borrow a book and enjoy it yourself, or even with your friends!
