On December 5, 2016, HUD published a Final Rule for each Public Housing Agency administering low-income, conventional public housing to initiate a smoke-free policy. Here is a link to HUD’s Press Release about this new Rule.
The effective date of the Rule is February 3, 2017, and it provides an 18-month implementation period. BRHA staff has begun the process of analyzing the details of the HUD Rule and identifying available resources. Following this review we will invite residents to one or more meetings to discuss HUD’s Smoke-free requirements and how BRHA envisions moving forward to comply.
