The Village at Oakview Advances

The construction of new apartments at The Village at Oakview is going strong!  Located in the 400 block of Oakview Avenue, these 48 units will provide additional affordable rental housing for families in Bristol.  Twelve buildings, each with four units – two on the first floor and two on the second – will provide “platinum level” energy efficient, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom apartments.  Each building will have one access point – a common entrance door with an interior foyer – then separate apartment entrances from this foyer.  This garden apartment style means that half of the units will be ground floor apartments, and half will be second floor “walk-ups,” accessible via a stairway in the foyer.

The primary source of funding for development of The Village at Oakview is the low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) program.  In accordance with LIHTC regulations units will be targeted to families earning 40%-60% of the Area Median Income (about $20,000-$30,000 for a family of four; limits vary by family size).  Rents will range from $361 – $663 per month depending on bedroom size and family income.  Families with Housing Choice Vouchers will also be considered for apartments.

Apartment buildings at The Village at Oakview will be delivered for occupancy in stages.  We anticipate that the first stage of apartments will be available for rent this summer.  We will begin taking rental applications for The Village at Oakview about 30 days from now.  Watch for signs to go up at the site, as well as public notices for the specific date on which applications will begin to be received.
