King University, Community Partners Collecting Coats for Kids

King University, the YWCA of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, and Craig’s One-Hour Cleaners are again partnering to collect winter coats for children in the Bristol community as part of King’s 19th annual Coats for Kids drive.

“The need for winter coats continues to increase throughout our region, especially for children in our local schools,” said Ms. Julie McReynolds, assistant dean for student engagement. “Coats for Kids helps ensure that families throughout our community have the opportunity to participate in a fun afternoon and select coats that will help keep their children warm.”

Members of King University and the Bristol community are asked to support Coats for Kids by donating new or gently used winter coats now through Friday, Oct. 12. Donations may be dropped off at any Bristol, Tennessee, or Bristol, Virginia, elementary school; at the YWCA, located at 106 State Street; or at Craig’s One-Hour Cleaners, located at 1375 Volunteer Parkway in Bristol, Tennessee.

Collected coats will be cleaned and distributed, free-of-charge, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at King’s Kline Gymnasium, located at 1350 King College Road, Bristol, Tennessee, 37620. Anyone present with a child, or with proper identification for a child, will receive a coat. A community-wide fall festival will also take place during the event, featuring lunch and games for participants, free-of-charge.
